Description:

The English Department of the Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg (Chair
of English Linguistics, Prof. Dr. Beatrix Busse) offers a position as
wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in (TV-L E13, 50%) for a doctoral student
or a post-doctoral assistant.

The candidate should have completed a degree in English studies or
(English) linguistics. Research fields and research interests preferably
include at least one of the following areas: diachronic (English)
linguistics, language change, (historical) pragmatics, (historical)
sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics or stylistics. 
The candidate is expected to develop his/her own research project leading
to a dissertation or, for post-docs, a German Habilitation. Among the
candidate's professional assignments will be his/her participation in
ongoing research projects and one course (1,5 hours a week) taught each
semester.

Fluency in English and at least basic proficiency in German as well as
computer literacy are required. The candidate should also be willing and
able to work in a team. 

Salary is on the German scale TV-L E13, 50%. The position is for three
years, with a possible extension. The earliest starting date is April 1, 2011.
