Description:

The Department of Modern Language Studies at California State University
San Marcos seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of
Spanish with an emphasis in Applied Linguistics. Applicants should hold a
Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, Spanish, or a closely related field by the
time of appointment (Fall 2011). The successful candidate will specialize
in second language acquisition and/or heritage language acquisition,
demonstrate potential for developing an active research agenda within these
areas, and be committed to the teacher-scholar model of post-secondary
education. While the successful candidate can expect to teach Spanish
courses in applied linguistics and linguistics, and supervise/train
graduate teaching assistants, the Department seeks a colleague who is
enthusiastic about participating at all levels of the curriculum, from
basic language instruction through master's level courses. Faculty
colleagues are also expected to contribute actively to the department,
college, and university through service. Candidates with an ability to
contribute to General Education, study abroad, and community outreach
should indicate this their application.

Applicants must submit letter of interest, a statement of teaching
philosophy, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation.  Address
