Freelance, part-time position

NLP-based firm seeks freelance linguistic analysts with perl programming
skills, to work entirely from home, on a roughly half-time basis.
Competitive pay. Must be both strong and experienced in practical
linguistic analysis. No use of linguistic theory, phonology, or discourse
analysis involved. However, a professional understanding and sensitivity to
actual language use and description is expected for the position.
Candidates asked to take at-home tests as proof of abilities. Must be
native speaker of English. 

Candidate does not absolutely need to be a degreed linguist, much less a
PhD. Ideal person for this job 'basically old-fashioned' BUT with at least
decent perl programming abilities. Candidate might be considered
'old-fashioned' because they are more interested and involved in
appreciating, producing, and describing English at what might be called a
'pre-theoretic' level, than in constructing or applying linguistic theory.
For instance, candidate is the kind of person who reads literature in his
or her spare time; who is capable of writing, and perhaps has written, for
publication in a non-specialist context; and who cherishes the nuances of
verbal expression. So (s)he is almost more a 'literary type' than a
linguist under the current understanding of the latter term.

But that is not quite all there is to the candidate: (s)he is also able to
code, at least fairly well (though brilliantly would be fine as well :>),
in perl. This is what saves the candidate from being thoroughly old-fashioned.
