Course description
To operate in tandem in this context, means that our pairs of internationally
acknowledged faculty and locally based scholars will look at the chosen
subjects from different angles and with a variety of viewpoints. The
advantage of these tandem sessions will therefore be to expose the subject
to the scrutiny of more than one, to expand the spectrum. These efforts will
however be headed towards the same direction of a higher level of
knowledge and a better understanding of the field. Tandems of the
LANCHART Centre International Summer School 2011:
-Socio-phonetics. Variation and change in speech production.
-Nicolai Pharao and Jane Stuart-Smith
-Community studies. Language variation and ethnography.
-Marie Maegaard and Norma Mendoza-Denton
-Media/language studies.
-Pia Quist and Jannis Androutsopoulos
-Socio-syntax.
-Tanya Karoli Christensen and Torben Juel Jensen with Sali Tagliamonte
PhD project presentations
The participating PhD students are required to present their own projects
and discuss them with the lecturers and fellow students. Participants should
therefore prepare a presentation lasting a maximum of 30 minutes, which
will be followed by 30 minutes of discussion and feedback from faculty and
audience. Programme will be uploaded at www.dgcss.dk by March 15th
