Meeting Description:

The English linguistics research team (Sesylia, PRISMES, has been working for several years on the verb, its environment (particles and prepositions), its complementation, and on the way events are expressed through it.

It seems interesting now to try and understand if the way speakers use verbs can influence their semantic features as well as their functioning. Cognitive approaches focus on usage-based analyses, but any theory working on context-dependent utterances can shed light on recent evolutions.

Jacques François (Université de Caen)
