Description:

Goethe-University of Frankfurt, the Institute for Psycholinguistics and
Didactic of the German Language within the faculty of New Philology offers

a full-time position as post-doc/research assistant (100% TV-G-U E13) 

within the project "Der Erwerb (nicht)restriktiver Relativsätze im
Deutschen" ("The acquisition of (non)restrictive relative clauses in
German"). The project is part of the DFG-research group "Relativsätze"
("Relative clauses") and starts on 01 September 2011. The position is
limited initially for three years (Projekt leader: Prof. Dr. Petra Schulz).
If evaluated  positively the project can be extended for three more years.
The announcement is subject to the approval of financial support from the
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).

Description:
The project investigates the acquisition of central semantic and syntactic
properties of relative clauses within the production and comprehension of
monolingual German speaking children.  

Tasks: 
-  development of psycholinguistic experiments
-  data collection and analysis
-  coordination of the data collection of student assistants
-  publications and talks 
-  cooperation with preschools 
-  continuing personal scientific training is expected

Requirements:
-  excellent degree in German Language studies or linguistics with focus on
psycholinguistics or theoretical linguistics 
-  PhD degree in one of the aforementioned areas
-  detailed knowledge of experimental methods in linguistics, and of
qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis 
-  team spirit, flexibility, and organizational experience and skills;
ability to communicate, especially with preschools
-  working knowledge of German

Additionally welcomed:
-  detailed knowledge of semantics, syntax or language acquisition
-  experience with statistics programs (e.g. SPSS)
