Meeting Description: 

The next AISV summer school, organised by AISV in collaboration with the Stelaris network, will take place at S. Marco di Castellabate (Salerno, Italy) on September 25th-30th 2011.

Confirmed teachers are Paul Boersma, Franco Cutugno, Sarah Hawkins, Mietta Lennes.

The maximum number of participants will be fixed at 30 (min to guarantee the budget 22). They will pay a fixed fee (600,00 ¤) inclusive of lodging, meals and scientific activities.

Themes:

 1. Advanced use of Tools for Phonetic Research (TBA)
 2. Scripting and/or complex procedures (Paul Boersma)
 3. Perceptual experiments, methods and tools (Sven Mattys)
 4. Data Modeling, querying and Information Retrieval (Francesco Cutugno)
 5. Methodology clinics: small groups discuss students' own research questions (Sarah Hawkins (coordination) together with all lecturers)
 6. Annotation, Labeling, Descriptive Systems (Mietta Lennes) 

AISV - STELARIS summer school

'Software Tools and Methods for Advanced Research in Phonetics'

Candidates should submit their application no later than August the 10th using the web form here linked:

The maximum number of participants will be fixed at 30 and the minimum will be fixed at 22, they will pay a fixed fee of 600,00 ? that includes lodging, meals and scientific activities.


Candidate participants to the AISV-Stelaris 2011 summer school should meet the following requirements:

Research interest concerning speech production and perception;

Basic programming experience (any programming language);

Minimal theoretical knowledge of speech signal analysis;

Non mandatory but preferable: possibility of sharing small sets of data with
other students with accompanying information during the school activities (i.e. WAV files + annotations).

If more than 30 applications will be submitted, candidates will be selected on the basis of their background and motivation as expressed during the application submission process. Acceptance notification will be emailed to selected candidates no later than August the 20th and accepted candidates will have to confirm their registration by paying the required fee no later than the 5th September.
