International Conference Digital Storytelling
21st-23rd March2012
Valencia, Spain

The Inter-university Institute for Applied Modern Languages of the
Comunitat Valenciana (IULMA) & the Departament de Filologia Anglesa i
Alemanya at the Universitat de València will be hosting the International
Conference on Digital Storytelling between the 21st and 23rd of March 2012
in Valencia (Spain).

Digital Storytelling is the modern expression of the ancient art of
storytelling. It combines music, narrative, and multimedia and the voice of
the author and has become both an educational and a cultural phenomenon.
Digital Storytelling is currently being used in more than 80 countries with
many different applications, including education, tourism, marketing,
history, and self-expression, among others.

In this conference we hope to gather here in Valencia those who want to
share and explore these new pedagogical/socio-cultural dimensions of
digital storytelling as well as those who wish to learn how the use of
technology has helped transform the whole experience of storytelling into
an exciting new form of personal or professional expression that is within
everyone's reach.

For more information, you can visit the conference website:

minutes (including any audiovisual materials displayed) and will be
followed by questions and answers. Multiple-authored presentations are
welcome.

B) Digital Video-Posters

These will consist of a video self-presentation which will include a

hypothesis that was tested or a description of the topic being analyzed or

keywords and bibliography by the 30th of January.

The organizing Committee reserves the right to decline participation if a
paper does meet the objectives set by the abstract.

For the submission and review process, we will use the Easychair conference
management system:

https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dst2012

Video-Posters:

Due to the nature of the digital story we have decided to substitute the
traditional poster with video-digital-posters. These will be projected in a
showroom dedicated exclusively to that purpose.

What is a video poster?

- The final product looks like a video that should include a description of
the project + an example of that project in the form of digital story.
- Step 1. You may use power point slides in order to explain the details,
objectives and characteristics of the Project. You may also add voice-over.
- Or instead you may just leave a static images/s and have a voice over
describing the project itself. [This first step should not exceed 2-3 minutes]
- Step 2. Add an example of a digital story that illustrates the previous.
The digital story itself should not exceed 4 minutes.
- Tools: you can use Windows Movie Maker to join images/power point slides
with the digital story itself.
- Or if you use Photo-Story, you can dedicate the first one or two images
to the description of the Project with a voice over.
