Meeting Description:

The Western Conference on Linguistics (WECOL) is the premiere general linguistics conference in western North America. For WECOL 2011, the SFU organizing committee plans a special session on 'Discourse and Grammar', in addition to a general session which covers all areas of linguistic interest.

Call for Papers: 

Deadline for Submission: July 1, 2011 

The Department of Linguistics at Simon Fraser University is pleased to invite abstracts for submission to the 2011 Western Conference on Linguistics (WECOL 2011) to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Nov. 18 - 20, 2011. 

Topics: 

Abstracts are invited for oral presentations (20-minute presentation plus 10-minute discussion) or posters on all aspects of linguistics, including: syntax, semantics, morphology, phonology, phonetics, pragmatics, first and second language acquisition, neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, computational linguistics, and language variation and change. 

In addition to regular sessions, there will be a special session on Discourse and Grammar. 

Instructions for Abstract Submission: 

Abstracts are not to exceed one page of letter-size (8.5''x 11'') paper with 1 inch margins on all sides and 12pt font size, with an optional additional page for data and references. The abstract should have a clear title but should not identify the author(s). The abstract must be submitted electronically in PDF format, using the electronic submission website accessible from:

Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per author, or two joint abstracts per author. 

Important Dates: 

- Abstract submission deadline: July 1, 2011, 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time 
- Notification of acceptance: Mid August, 2011 
- Conference date: Nov. 18 - 20, 2011
