Meeting Description:

The JPLF are aimed at advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students
(students of master's and doctorate programs) as well as researchers who do
research based on formal theories of language. The Conference seeks to
promote and strengthen the exchange of research findings in formal
linguistics as well as to generate a place for discussion and
communication, thus providing opportunities for networking among peers and
colleagues. The Conference is organized by the Master's Program in
Linguistics of the School of Languages (Universidad N. del Comahue) and the
research projects J0151 and J0172, and will be held from October 12th to
October 15th at the School of Languages, in General Roca, Río Negro, Argentina.

Plenary Speaker:

Dr. Laura Kornfeld (Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad N. General
Sarmiento, Conicet) 

Seminar: 

Dr. Cintia Carrió (Universidad N. del Litoral - Universidad N. de Rosario -
Conicet) will run a two-day seminar on field work in linguistics (two hours
per day). Registration fee is 80 ARS (which can be paid in situ).
Certificates of attendance will be issued. The syllabus will be available
shortly at the JPLF website.

Fees:

Until September 1st / until October 15th.

Presenters living in Argentina: 70 / 85 ARS
Presenters living abroad: 80 / 80 ARS
Undergraduate students (presenters): 20 / 30 ARS
Attendees: 40 / 50 ARS
Undergraduate attendees: free of charge

Registration:

Presenters and attendees will be able to register until September 30th at
http://www.jplf.com.ar 

Call for Papers:

General thematic areas include: language acquisition (L1, L2 and languages
in contact), lexicon/lexis, phonology, morphology, syntax, syntax-prosody,
syntax-morphology, syntax-lexicon interfaces, semantics and pragmatics.

There will be no concurrent sessions. Presentations will be twenty minutes
in length plus 5 minutes for questions and comments. 

There will also be sessions for posters. At least one of the authors must
be present to answer possible questions, etc. 

Abstract Submission Guidelines:

Presenters may choose between an oral presentation or a poster. Abstracts
should include theoretical framework, hypotheses and objectives. (maximum
length: 1 A4 page, 12 point Times New Roman, single- spaced). It must also
include: title in capital letters, full name of the author/s, affiliation,
city and country of the presenter, and e-mail address. Proposals must be
sent in Spanish or Portuguese in PDF format to
jornadaspatagonicaslf at gmail.com. The subject must read: ABSTRACT
PRESENTATION JPLF or ABSTRACT POSTER JPLF, depending on the chosen mode.

All submissions must be received by August 1st, 2011.

Presenters will be notified by mail if their presentation has been accepted
as from August 22nd. Acceptance of proposals will be limited to one
individual abstract and one in collaboration per author.
