'Cohérence Discursive et Prosodie'

Le but de cette journée d'étude est de réunir des chercheurs travaillant
sur l'articulation entre le discours et la prosodie. En dressant un état de
la recherche sur le sujet, en France et à l'étranger, il s'agit avant tout
de dégager des thématiques et des problématiques communes. 

La disponibilité des corpus oraux et des outils permettant de les analyser
a multiplié les travaux de recherche dans le domaine et il semble en effet
opportun de réunir les chercheurs s'interrogeant sur la façon dont la
prosodie participe à la cohesion et à la cohérence en discours ou à son
interprétation, mais aussi sur la façon dont elle peut s'articuler avec la
syntaxe et la sémantique pour créer du sens en contexte. Depuis quelques
années, les journées d'étude, colloques ou conférences internationaux
dédiés à l'articulation entre prosodie et discours se multiplient (parmi
les événements les plus récents on pourra citer les conférences Speech
Prosody; GlobeE 2010 Prosody & Discourse, Varsovie ou encore les
conférences IDP [Interface Discours Prosodie]). 

La spécificité de cette journée lilloise réside dans son souhait de
s'inspirer du colloque Prosodie (Genève, 2002) ou de la journée Syntaxe et
Prosodie organisée par LaTTice en 2010 à Paris 3 en proposant aux
intervenants de travailler sur un corpus commun, sélectionné par les
organisateurs. Plus précisément, souhaitant accueillir des propositions sur
la langue française et sur la langue anglaise, cette journée d'étude
propose aux intervenants deux corpus, à savoir deux enregistrements de 40
minutes environ de conversation radiophonique « spontanée ».

'Discourse Coherence and Prosody'

The goal of the colloquium is to bring together researchers working on the
relationship between discourse and prosody both in France and abroad in
order to examine the state of the art on the topic by establishing a common
set of problems and research questions. 

The availability of oral corpora and tools for their analysis has led to a
significant amount of research in this area; we have thus decided to take
the opportunity to bring together researchers who investigate the role that
prosody plays in discourse cohesion and coherence and/or in the
interpretation of discourse, as well as how prosody interacts with syntax
and semantics to create meaning in context. Over the past few years, the
number of international colloquiums and conferences focusing on the
prosody-discourse interface has increased significantly (consider, for
example, the series Speech Prosody, GlobE 2010 Prosody & Discourse (Warsaw)
and Interface Discours Prosodie). 

The present colloquium takes a unique approach to the question by asking
participants to work on a common corpus selected by the organisers,
inspired by similar conferences such as Prosodie (Geneva 2006) and Syntaxe
et Prosodie (organised by LaTTice, Paris 3, 2010). In the interest of
receiving abstracts focusing on French and/or English, the present
colloquium is proposing two corpora to participants. Each corpus consists
of a forty-minute extract of «spontaneous» radio speech.

Les intervenants sont libres de choisir leur objet d'étude, ainsi que les
outils conceptuels et cadres théoriques qui leur semblent les plus
opportuns. Les deux corpus sont téléchargeables sur le site de la journée
d'étude (http://evenements.univ-lille3.fr/je-cdp). L'approche peut être
monolingue ou contrastive. Les communications seront de 25 minutes, suivies
de 15 minutes pour les questions et la discussion. Une sélection des
interventions sera par la suite publiée sous la forme d'articles en anglais
chez un éditeur international.

Les propositions de communication, anonymes et d'une page maximum
references incluses, sont à envoyer à  je-cdp at univ-lille3.fr avant le 19
décembre 2011. Les propositions doivent préciser le(s) corpus choisi(s)
(anglais, français) et la façon dont celui-ci sera exploité.

Call for Papers:

Participants are free to choose the corpus or corpora they would like to
analyze, as well as the conceptual tools and theoretical frameworks they
wish to work with. The corpora can be downloaded from the colloquium
website at http://evenements.univ-lille3.fr/je-cdp/en. Approaches focusing
on one language or on a comparison of the two languages are welcome. Each
talk will be 25 minutes long, followed by 15 minutes for questions and
discussion. Following the colloquium, a selection of papers will be
published by an international publisher as a series of articles in English.

Anonymous abstract submissions of one page maximum including references
should be sent to je-cdp at univ-lille3.fr by 19 December 2011. Abstracts
should specify which corpus (French and/or English) will be used and how
the author(s) plan to analyze the data.
