Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

My name is Danniella Hornby and I am a new graduate assistant at
The LINGUIST List. As I share a bit of my history with LINGUIST,
I would like to encourage you to donate so that we can continue to
offer the same resources and opportunities for future generations.

I found the LINGUIST website when I was in high school, and was
intrigued by the wealth of information that I had just stumbled
across. I remember reading countless pages of information on child
language acquisition, and just like that, the seed was planted. By
the time I was ready to apply to college I was obsessed with
linguistics, and didn't hesitate to declare it my intended major.

After three years at The University of Manchester earning a BA in
Linguistics and Literature, and as I was nearing graduation and
searching for internships, I couldn't have been more surprised to
discover that The LINGUIST List was looking! Throughout the summer,
I worked on various tasks, including GOLD, and LEGO, where I spent
time learning XML/XSLT. I also worked on the 'Ask-a-Ling' feature,
the questions for which I looked forward to reading every morning.
When the summer ended, I knew that the skills and confidence I had
gained were invaluable. Now a GA, I have been given the opportunity
to delve further into projects and interact with subscribers in my
new position as editor of Journal Calls for Papers.

The LINGUIST List resources are free due to generous donations and
support from subscribers. These donations ensure that a student like
myself can use the resources and then pay it forward by working on
projects that serve the greater linguistic community. To help keep
these services free so they can benefit students and subscribers
alike, please consider donating at the following link.

We are grateful for all donations, and appreciate your continued
support!

Best regards,
Danniella Hornby

This Year the LINGUIST List hopes to raise $67,000. This money will go to help
keep the List running by supporting all of our Student Editors for the coming year.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return
(U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact
your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple
administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company
operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
