Description:

The Linguistics Department at Swarthmore College intends to make a 1-year
appointment for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Linguistics in 2011-2012.
The position involves teaching a total of five courses with at least one
course each on the campuses of Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges, with the
balance taught at Swarthmore. It is anticipated that this position will be
succeeded by a tenure-track line within the Bryn Mawr-Haverford-Swarthmore
system.
 
The ideal candidate should have a specialty in one or more of the following
subfields: Phonology, Syntax, Semantics, or Sociolinguistics, as well as
experience working with primary data. Research on a non-Indo-European
language is highly desirable. Teaching experience is essential.

Swarthmore College is a small liberal-arts college near Philadelphia, PA,
with top-notch students and a strong undergraduate major.

Candidates must have the Ph.D. in hand by July 2011. To apply, please
