Description:

The Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese invites applications for
a position as Visiting Assistant Professor, Visiting Lecturer or Visiting
Instructor in Spanish Linguistics, depending on qualifications and
experience, for the 2011-2012 academic year. PhD is preferred but
exceptional ABD candidates will also be considered. Only candidates with
PhD in hand, a strong publication record, an active research agenda and a
year of teaching experience can be considered for the Visiting Assistant
Professor position. Candidates with PhD by time of appointment and teaching
experience will be considered as Visiting Lecturers, and ABD candidates
with teaching experience as Visiting Instructors. Teaching duties include 2
or 3 courses per semester (depending on type of appointment), both graduate
and undergraduate courses in Spanish general linguistics and graduate
courses in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition or related
field. The person appointed should demonstrate a commitment to excellence
in teaching. Professional-level fluency in both English and Spanish are
required. The target date of appointment is August 16, 2011. Salary
commensurate with experience.
