Claire Kramsch of the University of California, Berkeley

Location:  Lecture Theatre 1, King George VI Building, Newcastle University.
Title:  New perspectives on culture in language study
Professor Kramsch is of worldwide eminence in applied linguistics, and her research centres on social, cultural and stylistic approaches to language study.  In this talk she will review ways of conceptualizing 'culture' in the study of foreign languages and the implications of each for language teaching.
