Meeting Description:

The Workshop on Structure and Constituency in the Languages of the Americas (WSCLA) is an annual linguistics conference, which started in 1995. The central objective of WSCLA is to bring together linguists who are engaged in research on the formal study of aboriginal languages of the Americas in order to exchange ideas across theories, language families, generations of scholars, and across the academic and non-academic communities who are involved in language maintenance and revitalization.

WSCLA 17 will take place at the University of Chicago on March 9-11, 2012.

The following invited speakers have been confirmed:

Daryl Baldwin (Miami University)
Ryan Bochnak (University of Chicago)
Gabriela Caballero (University of California, San Diego)
Henry Davis (University of British Columbia)
Meagan Louie (University of British Columbia)
Jerry Sadock (University of Chicago)
Peggy Speas (University of Massachusetts, Amherst)

The special themed session will focus on information structure. In addition there will be a round table discussion with invited speakers on the role of youths in language revitalization efforts. 

Call for Papers:

Abstract Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts must be submitted in PDF format with filename PaperTitle.pdf (e.g., The_Morphophonemics_of_Robojibwe.pdf). Abstracts must be anonymous. Author name(s) must not appear on the abstract or file name. In addition, be sure to remove any author name in the document properties of the PDF file.

- 1 page letter size (a 2nd page for references and examples may be included)
- 1 inch margins throughout    
- 500 words maximum, not including references and examples
- 12pt Time Roman font size (min.)

Please submit your abstract at http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/wscla17. All abstracts must be submitted by 11:59 PM CST on Sunday, January 15, 2012. Please indicate whether your abstract should be considered for the general session or the special themed session.
