Applicants are invited to work on a 10-year project in linguistics entitled, 
'Empirical foundations of linguistics'. The candidate will work in the Strand 2 : 
« Experimental Grammar in a cross linguistic perspective », substrand « 
Experimental Syntax ». This a full time position.

The successful applicant will have to document qualifications in linguistics/ 
psycholinguistics at the PhD level. Applicants will be assessed by an expert 
committee. The main emphasis of the assessment will be on the applicant's 
potential for research, as evident from: PhD thesis, other scholarly works and 
project description. S/he should have defended his/her PhD before dec 1st 
2011.

The applicant should be trained in syntax, annotated corpora and statistics. 
Knowledge of French or psycholinguistics will be a plus. The candidate will 
work on the different factors influencing preferences in the domain of 
sentential elliptical constructions (in particular RNR and gapping). S/he will 
compare coordinate constructions with and without ellipsis in written and 
spoken corpora, especially in available treebanks for English and French.
