LABEX EFL (Experimental Foundations of Linguistics) is looking for a
Research Assistant to work for 12 months on the research project "Early
acquisition of word order properties" supervised by Dr. Judit Gervain and Dr.
Thierry Nazzi (Laboratoire Psychologie de la Perception, CNRS - Université
Paris Descartes). The project will explore how infants use different acoustic
markings of prominence (duration, pitch, amplitude) to group elements
together, which might provide a mechanism to specify the word order
implemented in the native language. The project will rely on both behavioural
methods (headturn preference procedure) and near infra-red spectroscopy
(NIRS).

You will have a Masters in Experimental Psychology, Linguistics, Cognitive
Science, Physiology, Neuroscience or a related discipline. High proficiency in
French is required (since you will need to interact with infants, their parents,
and other members in the team). Experience with infants is mandatory.
Previous experience in developmental research, with imaging techniques
and/or in statistical analyses will be favoured.

The position is available for 12 months. The successful candidate will be
expected to start on January 1st, 2012. Salary in Paris will be in accordance
with the French state regulated public service salary scale.
