Description:

The International Doctoral Program in Linguistics (LIPP) in cooperation with the
Center for Language and Literature ('Zentrum für Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft)
at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität is offering up to 3 doctoral student positions
(TV-L E13, 50%, 2,5 years with evaluation after the first year; start of employment
May 2012) to work on a research project related to the linguistic focus: 'Variation -
Kontakt - Wandel'.

Doctoral students enjoy excellent conditions in an interdisciplinary environment with
around 50 participants working on a broad variety of linguistic topics. The program is
research oriented and has a systematically structured interdisciplinary curriculum. It
offers an individual and intensive advisory program for doctoral candidates, an
international guest-speaker program and financial support for international research
projects. Double-degrees within the framework of 'Cotutelle de Thèse' are supported.
Application requirements are a university degree with a grade above average
(Magister Artium, diploma, state board examination, Master of Arts ('with thesis'),
Maîtrise, Laurea, etc.) in a linguistic subject, very good knowledge of German,
working knowledge of English and at least one other language. We especially
welcome students with degrees from outside of Germany.
