Task-Based Language Teaching in Asia: Challenges and Opportunities

JALT's Task-Based Learning SIG, in association with the University of Central Lancashire, UK, are proud to sponsor the first 'Task-Based Language Teaching in Asia: Challenges and Opportunities' event, to be held 19 and 20 May 2012, at Osaka Shoin Women's University, Osaka, Japan.

The aim of this international event is to enable language educators and researchers from across Asia to share ideas and discuss various aspects relating to the theory and/or practice of Task-Based Learning and Teaching in Asia.

Call for Papers:

We would like to invite those with an interest in this field to submit an abstract for a paper, workshop or poster session (25 or 40 mins).

Areas of interest include but are not limited to:

- The compatibility of TBLT in Asia
- Language teacher professional development and TBLT
- The evaluation of TBLT in classroom contexts
- TBLT and technology
- The reliance on learners' L1 in TBLT contexts
- Learners' L2 development and TBLT
- Learner identity and TBLT
- Teacher perspectives on challenges and opportunities
- Institutional and classroom challenges
- Future directions for TBLT in Asia

Please note that abstracts must not exceed 300 words. 

Submission deadline: 31 January 2012. 

Following peer review, presenters will be notified of acceptance by 28 February 2012. 

Please e-mail your abstracts as Microsoft word attachments to tbltinasia at gmail.com. Please state clearly the full name, correspondence e-mail and postal address, and affiliation of each presenter, as well as the category of presentation (paper, workshop, or poster).
