Meeting Description:

The Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and World Languages at Carson-Newman College and the IDP Linguistics Degree Program of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will host the second annual Interdisciplinary Symposium on Language on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. The Symposium is intended to provide an opportunity for dialogue between scholars in various disciplines who share an interest in language.

Call for Papers:

Participants will give 20-minute conference-style presentations or lectures on any aspect of their discipline that relates to the notion of 'language.' We hope to draw presentations from a number of disciplines, including linguistics, philosophy, foreign languages and literatures, communications, education, English, TESL, history, law, political science, communicative disorders, mathematics, computer science, psychology, sociology, etc.
 
Interested presenters should send an abstract of no more than 250 words (.doc, .docx or .pdf format) to Dr. Andrea L. Menz at amenz at cn.edu by Monday, January 2, 2012. Please include a title, a description of the presentation, any conclusions, and references (references do not count toward word limit). Decisions will be announced by January 16, 2012.
