David G. Nicholls Joins Georgetown University Press as Georgetown
Languages Acquisitions Editor

WASHINGTON D.C.--Georgetown University Press is pleased to
announce the appointment of Dr. David G. Nicholls as acquisitions
editor for its Georgetown Languages division. Dr. Nicholls brings many
years of publishing experience to Georgetown and will work closely
with the Georgetown Languages team to acquire multimedia foreign
language learning materials, linguistics texts, and reference materials.
''We are delighted and honored that David Nicholls is joining our
publishing program,'' said Richard Brown, director of Georgetown
University Press. ''His expertise in languages and linguistics will be a
critical asset as we expand our presence in these fields.''

Dr. Nicholls most recently spent ten years at the Modern Language
Association as its Director of Book Publications. In addition to his work
acquiring and developing books that support the professional work of
teachers and scholars of language and literature, he also spearheaded
the conversion of the MLA's major reference book--MLA Handbook for
Writers of Research Papers and Literary Research Guide--into award-
winning digital publications. No stranger to the university press world,
Dr. Nicholls has served on committees of the Association of American
University Presses and has published two books with the University of
Michigan Press (Conjuring the Folk and Harlem Calling). In addition he
is currently a member of the Association of American Publishers' Books
Committee. ''I've long admired Georgetown University Press's many
publications in languages and linguistics, and I'm eager to help develop
an expanded set of offerings in the Languages program,'' Nicholls said.
''It is heartening that the press is poised for growth in this vital area of
teaching and scholarship.''

collaboration of language experts and publishing professionals to
