Meeting Description:

El Colegio de México and Indiana University announce the 6th Laboratory Approaches to Romance Phonology.

The 6th Laboratory Approaches to Romance Phonology (LARP-6) is a bi-annual conference for research that is based on laboratory and instrumental approaches to the study of Romance phonology. The conference theme for this occasion is 'Linguistic Varieties in Contact' (both between languages and dialects).

The conference will take place at El Colegio de México, (México D.F.) from October 3-5, 2012. The organizing committee consists of Esther Herrera Zendejas (eherrera at colmex.mx), Pedro Martín Butragueño (pmartin at colmex.mx) and Erik Willis (ewwillis at indiana.edu). The cost for general registration is $100.00 (US) or equivalent in Mexican pesos; student registration with identification is $50; assistants may attend gratis although a certificate will not be awarded.  The registration will be collected at the time of registration. 

2nd Call for Papers:

The organizers of the 6th Laboratory Approaches to Romance Phonology (LARP6) announce the call for abstracts in the area of laboratory and instrumental approaches to the study of Romance phonology.

The conference theme is 'Linguistic Varieties in Contact' (both between languages and dialects); other related contributions will also be considered. Possible perspectives include studies that are strictly phonetic and phonological as well as work on acquisition, sociolinguistics, pathology, etc., in which one or more languages are involved. In addition to the normal oral presentations, in this edition of the conference we will have an additional poster session.

The preferred languages for presentation at LARP are Spanish and English, but presentation in other Romance languages are also accepted.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is (in English, Spanish or any other Romance language) April 30, 2012. We request that the abstracts not be longer than one-page (single spaced, Times 12pt); there may be an additional page for bibliography or figures. Please specify the preferred nature of your submission, oral or poster. Only one individual and/or one co-authored paper will be accepted.
