Description:

The Department of Spanish Italian and Portuguese at the University of Illinois 
at Urbana-Champaign is seeking two (2) Visiting Instructors to teach its large 
and well-established technologically-enhanced Spanish Basic Language 
Program.

Minimum qualifications include an M.A. in Spanish with a background in 
second language acquisition, communicative language teaching, or some 
related area of applied linguistics. Near native or native ability in Spanish 
along with experience in technology based language instruction also required. 
At least two years of teaching language at the college level. Duties include 
teaching the equivalent of six undergraduate courses per year in the basic 
language program depending on program needs.

Responsibilities include writing and administering exams, developing course 
curriculum/syllabus, maintaining on-line course management system, 
participating in orientation and ongoing training of teaching assistants, 
contributing to any course/program innovation and other departmental duties 
as assigned.

This is a full-time, 9-month appointment with additional summer service 
possible. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Target 
starting date is August 16, 2012.
