Abstract:
Ce volume contient la syntaxe des noms et des pronoms, précédé de
quelques observations générales sur plusieurs des facteurs qui déterminent
le développement historique. Le sixième et dernier volume contiendra la
syntaxe des particules, des verbes et des propositions.
On sait que le langue est un fait sociologique. Voilà pourquoi la Syntaxe doit
être envisagée, elle aussi, dans ses rapports avec la société, les mœurs et
les événements : c'est ce que j'ai essayé de montrer en détail, par ex. dans
mon exposé des faits qui se rattachent à l'emploi des pronoms allocutoires et
à celui du pronom indéfini on. Je crois enfin utile de rappeler que ce volume
poursuit tout à fait le même but que les précédents, celui de donner aux
romanistes débutants un guide clair et pratique, aux professeurs d'Université
un manuel qui puisse servir de base à leurs cours et exercices ; c'est
pourquir j'ai d^exclure de mon livre beaucoup de détails qui auraient trop
grossi le volume et encombré l'exposé (adapté de la préface.
