Meeting Description: 

The Segundas Jornadas (In)formativas de Lingüística Forense will take place in Madrid, October 2012. In this edition, we will try to go deeper into Forensic Linguistics, helped by Spanish and foreign experts, professors and practitioners such as Juana Gil, Mercedes Bengoechea, Lawrence Solan, Marty Laforest, Isabel Picornell, Enrique Soto and Ana Álvarez de Sotomayor, among others.

In addition to their interesting talks, this new edition offers the chance to attend some practical workshops on transcription, authorship attribution and speaker's identification, as well as some debates on different issues -such as Translation and Interpreting, the expert witness and professional opportunities. 

Also, there will be place for those willing to present a poster. Thus, we expect to promote the attendants active participation and, at the same time, to complete theoretical background with practical work.

The following issues will be addressed:

- Profiling and vocal passports
- Speakers' identification
- Sworn and legal translation and interpreting 
- Forensic Linguistics ethics and methods
- Sociolinguistics, Discourse Analysis and Text-mining applied to Forensic Linguistics

Spanish is the official language of the Jornadas and most of the talks and debates, and all the workshops will be held in this language. Nonetheless, three of the plenary speakers will give their talks in English.
