Description:

The FRIAS School of Language & Literature invites applications for a one-
year Junior Research Fellowship for a Post Doc (E13 TV-L) in Language
Sciences, from November (or October) 2012 to October (or September) 2013.
The position can also be split into two half-year fellowships within this period
of time.

Since the fellow is expected to work in close exchange with the senior and
junior fellows at FRIAS and the linguists and cognitive scientists at the
University of Freiburg, his or her area of research should be related to the
core areas of linguistic research in Freiburg (such as interactional linguistics,
usage-based theories of language, global varieties of European languages,
language contact and bilingualism, corpus-based studies on language
change, sociolinguistics of globalization, social and corpus-based
dialectology, experimental cognitive studies, areal linguistics). We expect
active participation in the research activities at FRIAS and full-time presence
in Freiburg during the fellowship.

Freiburg, located in the Black Forest, close to the Alsace and Switzerland, is
the home to one of Germany's oldest universities. It offers a vibrant linguistic
research community (see Hermann Paul School of Language Sciences
http://hpsl-linguistics.org/, Hermann Paul Centre of Linguistics
http://www.hpcl.uni-freiburg.de/home, Doctoral School 'Frequency effects in
language' http://frequenz.uni-freiburg.de/abstract) and, with FRIAS, one of the
leading Institutes for Advanced Studies in Europe.

The university seeks to increase the number of participating women and
strongly encourages qualified women to apply.

Applications (including a CV, a short outline of the research project to be
pursued in Freiburg and three names of potential referees) should be sent
electronically before September 1, 2012, to:
