Description:

Two 2 PhD Research fellowship positions in sociolinguistics or related field 
are available at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies, 
University of Oslo. (SKO1017). More information about the Department of

The fellowships are for a period of 3 years and will be attached to the 
project 'Standardising Minority Languages'. The aim of the project is to 
carry out in-depth analyses of the standardisation of European Regional or 
Minority Languages, expanding the focus from macro-level processes and 
linguistic aspects of standardisation to include investigations of how users 
relate to standardisation processes. 

The successful applicants are expected to investigate the standardisation 
processes related to a minority languages protected by the European 
Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. Applicants are expected to 
present a research project closely linked to the main project; a project

The persons appointed will be affiliated with the Faculty's organised 
research training. The academic work must result in a doctoral thesis that 
will be defended at the Faculty with a view to obtaining the degree of PhD. 
The persons appointed are expected to join the research group and 
contribute to development of the academic environment. The appointment is 
for a period of 3 years.

Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian Master's degree 
or corresponding education in a field relevant to the proposed project (i.e. 
sociolinguistics, social studies of science and technology, social 
anthropology, sociology).

academic qualifications in the relevant area of research.
