Meeting Description:

This conference hopes to provide a ground for discussion and exchange of experience between scholars, educational authorities and teachers of all languages and content subjects. This year it focuses on various aspects of teaching foreign languages in the Content and Language Integrated Learning form. The aim is to provide a forum in which to explore current practice in CLIL and to discuss a number of subsidiary issues.

Call for Papers:

This conference hopes to provide a ground for discussion and exchange of experience between scholars, educational authorities and teachers of all languages and content subjects. This year it focuses on various aspects of teaching foreign languages in the Content and Language Integrated Learning form. The aim is to provide a forum in which to explore current practice in CLIL and to discuss a number of subsidiary issues. The Organisers look forward to papers in the following areas:

- Teacher preparation for CLIL
- Educational policies for the promotion of bilingual education
- Classroom practices in CLIL settings
- Classroom discourse in CLIL
- Using CLIL at primary, secondary and tertiary level - policies and classroom practice
- Bilingualism, CLIL and learning foreign languages
- CLIL and language development
- Linguistic interference in CLIL settings
- Challenges and barriers to CLIL
- Curriculum development in CLIL
- Receptive bilingualism in CLIL
- CLIL in vocational subject teaching
- CLIL in teaching English for Specific Purposes
- CLIL and intercultural relationships
- Advantages and disadvantages of CLIL
- CLIL effect on learning and teaching processes
- Designing and selecting CLIL material
- Measuring CLIL students’ achievements in the area of content and language
- Training and resources for CLIL teachers
- Educational projects and teaching experiences with CLIL

Proposals for original and previously unpublished papers (20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for questions) or workshops (45 minutes) reporting on research related to the theme of the conference, presenting practical or more theoretical considerations regarding the issue, are welcome for presentation at the conference.

Abstract Submission:

Abstracts of papers or workshops in the range of 250-300 words should be submitted by email to psycho at uni.lodz.pl or weronikaszubko at uni.lodz.pl by February 15, 2013. The proposals should include the title, name, affiliation, email address and a short biographical note, about 80-100 words in length. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by March 5, 2013.
