Description:

Appen Butler Hill is currently looking for a US based Chinese 
Traditional/Chinese Simplified Software Tester/Linguist for an immediate 
project. The consultant will work remotely for approximately 20 hours per 
week until the end of 2012.
 
The Software Tester/Linguist is responsible for reviewing the quality of 
localized software, documentation, and training content through linguistic 
testing, across multiple projects and will work with Localization Project 
Managers, external vendors, software development, and product 
management to design, develop, deliver, and maintain high-quality 
localized products.

Key Responsibilities:
-  Testing products, documentation, and training prior to release
-  Owning, seeking feedback on, and resolving language-related issues
-  Creating language-specific test cases
-  Auditing vendor deliverables
-  Managing terminology and translation memory
-  Developing and maintaining translation style guide

Required Skills:
-  Degree in Linguists, Computer Science, or other related field
-  Very strong attention to detail
-  Experience with software testing
-  Experience translating or reviewing products, documentation, or training 
content
-  Solid knowledge of software development practices
-  Exceptional communication abilities and interpersonal skills
-  Proven ability to lead and influence others across multiple teams
-  Proactive person who takes initiative and suggests improvements
-  Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
-  Native speaker

Preferred Skills:
-  Experience in international business
-  Experience with translation memory and translation memory 
management
-  Knowledge of translations tools such as Trados or SDLx
-  Experience with software translation tools such as Passolo or Catalyst

Additional Information: 
Projects require excellent English reading, writing and communication 
skills. Strong computer skills in a Windows environment and greater than 
average comfort with software and technology are expected. US residents 
must have US work authorization (US citizen or permanent resident). 
Unfortunately, Appen Butler Hill cannot sponsor employment visas at this 
time. You will be required to sign a legally binding non-disclosure 
agreement at the time of contract negotiation.
 
This is a contract position.
 
Compensation:
We offer a competitive, hourly pay rate DOE (to be paid as 1099 self-
employment income).
