13th International Young Linguists Conference
May 7-9, 2012
Organized by the Czech Department, Philosophical Faculty, Palacký University & The Linguistic Association of the Czech Republic

You are cordially invited to the traditional annual meeting of young linguists developing the tradition started in 2000 in the Czech Language Institute of the ASCR in Prague and since 2001 continued at Palacký University in Olomouc. This year's main topics are:

1. Data based X theory based linguistic approaches: are they compatible?
2. Diachronic data X theories and methods of synchronic linguistics: can they be combined?
3. Grammaticalization in Meillet sense (l'attribution du caractère grammatical à un mot jadis autonome) X pragmaticalization (and other -izations): can they cooperate?

Conference:

a) Main conference: papers on the central or related topics
b) Workshops: there will be 5 workshops at the conference

1. Diachronic Workshop

2. Grammatical Competence in Teaching Czech as a Foreign Language
Convenors: Darina Hradilová (darina.hradilova at upol.cz), Jiří Nový (jiri-novy at centrum.cz)

3. Language Corpora from the Perspective of Creators and Users
Convenors: Markéta Janebová (marketa.janebova at upol.cz), Michaela Martinková (michaela.martinkova at upol.cz)

4. Dynamic Trends in the Description of Lexical Meaning
Convenor: Marek Nagy (marek.nagy at upol.cz)

5. Following the Footsteps of Olomouc Linguistics 
Convenor: Martin Janečka (martin.janecka at upol.cz)

c) Traditional sessions on literary science and translatology will be held again 

Fees and Payments: 

The conference fee is 950 - CZK (it includes the costs associated with publishing the papers), to be paid at the registration desk upon arrival on May 7, 2012.

Social Programme:

a) An evening getting-together at a restaurant
b) Sightseeing tour of Olomouc, a trip to the outskirts (Svatý Kopeček, etc.)
