Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

Every year, many of you use our website to gain vital and
interesting news about the latest developments in the field.
Many of you use this news to find great new books or read
new articles; professors and students alike, you have used the
LINGUIST List to stimulate new ideas and keep up with research
related to areas of your expertise. And we provide all but a
few of our services absolutely free of charge.

As project coordinator here, I have been part of all facets of
the LINGUIST List and I know how much effort is put into
providing services for the linguistic community. Another detail
I've noticed is that those who participate in our Fund Drive
tend to already know this and tell others about it. For those of
you haven't yet contributed but who use LINGUIST List regularly,
think about the benefits that it has brought to your
professional life or academic career. I would hazard to guess
that the total amount this has contributed to your life, your
career, and your intellect growth would be worth a donation
of $15, $30, or even $50?

While many institutions provide crucial research in a specific
area of expertise, few can boast that they have made direct
contributions to bringing scholars and information together and
allowing them to share and publicize their ideas. This is
essentially what we do, and without your support we cannot
continue to maintain the high level of service that you
have grown accustomed to.

For the price of a meal out or coffee for a week you can help us
continue to provide crucial services for the discipline of
linguistics, services which I haven't found available for any
other academic discipline out there. Please donate $20 or $30
today to help ensure that you can continue to enjoy the
announcements, book reviews, conferences, and many other
services that we provide.

Gratefully,

Matt Lahrman
Project Coordinator

Alternatively you can also pledge right now and pay later. To do so, go to:

For all information on donating and pledging, including information on how to
donate by check, money order, or wire transfer, please visit:

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax
return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site,
or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a
simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to
LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
