Meeting Description:

This is a call for papers for a 3-day conference on the languages of the Caucasus to be held at Boğazici University, Istanbul on November 29 - December 1, 2012, co-hosted by the French Research Institute (IFEA). We welcome contributions on the analysis of the languages of the area, including diachronic aspects, as well as papers discussing the challenges these languages present to theoretical frameworks in linguistics.

George Hewitt (SOAS)
Maria Polinsky (Harvard University)

Accommodation can be arranged at the university guest house or a hotel upon request. 

Contributors who are employed by an academic institution in Russia or the Caucasus and are residing in those countries can ask for waiver of the conference fee of 50 Euros (if their presentation is accepted). 

Call for Papers:

Abstract submission is limited to one single and one co-authored presentation per person. The length of the paper presentations will be 30+10 minutes. Details of poster presentations will be provided by the organizers later.

Important Dates:

Abstract submission: March 15, 2012  
Announcement of the evaluation results: April 30, 2012  
Conference: November 29 - December 1, 2012

Abstracts should not exceed 2 pages in length with 2.5cm/1 inch margins and 12 point font size (Times New Roman), including examples and references. 2 copies of the abstract (1 authored, 1 anonymous with only the title) should be sent as an attachment in pdf format to cauconf at boun.edu.tr by March 15, 2012. Abstracts will be reviewed by an external panel and the reviewing process will be double-blind.

In the body of the e-mail, please include the following information:

1. Title of paper
2. Your name
3. Affiliation and address
4. Email address
5. Whether you wish your abstract to be considered for the main session or for the poster session (or both)
