Meeting Description:

The 5th Graduate Portuguese & Hispanic Symposium (GRAPHSY) will be held March 16-17, 2012, at Georgetown University.

Even in an ever-increasingly globalized world, there remain barriers and boundaries to effective communication. These interferences can be physical, cultural, or linguistic in nature, creating distorted, dissonant and disruptive spheres of communication. This conference seeks to explore the (im)possibilities of transmission in linguistics, literature, and cultural studies.

2nd Call for Papers:

Deadline for abstract submission has been extended to February 15, 2012.

Please send your abstract as an attachment to graphsy.georgetown at gmail.com (no more than 250 words) by February 15, 2012. The abstract should include the presenter's name, institutional affiliation, contact information and the thematic area of research. Abstracts may be submitted in Spanish, Portuguese, or English.
