Wednesday 16th May, 2012
University of Southampton, Avenue Campus

The members of the Centre for Global Englishes at the University of Southampton are pleased to announce a one-day seminar to celebrate the launch of the Centre. The event will run from 10.30am to 6pm, starting and ending with refreshments, and will consist of several plenary talks from distinguished names in the field, followed by an interactive panel discussion. Featured speakers and panellists include Anna Mauranen, Barbara Seidlhofer, Martin Dewey, Christopher Hall, Constant Leung, and Henry Widdowson.

Registration and refreshments (including lunch) are free of charge; however, we should stress that places are limited, so reserving your place early is advised. People attending the day's event are also invited to stay on for the inaugural lecture of Jennifer Jenkins, founder of CGE, from 6pm to 7pm. The lecture will be introduced by Henry Widdowson with Constant Leung responding, and will be followed by a drinks and canapés reception.

Avenue Campus is a short taxi drive or bus ride from Southampton Central train station and coach stops/stations in the city. Please visit the University of Southampton's website for travel information and the CGE's website for information about us (see the links below).
