Description:

The Cognitive Science Program at Indiana University in Bloomington is
seeking to fill a postdoc position in the area of text mining and knowledge
discovery, with particular focus on topic discovery in large text corpora.
Salary is consistent with current NIH guidelines, ranging from $38,496 to
$53,112 plus a modest travel allowance. The position is available for up to
four years, beginning on or after September 1, 2012.

The position will be held under the supervision of Dr. Michael Jones in the IU
Cognitive Computing Laboratory (http://www.indiana.edu/~clcl/). The postdoc
will be part of a large multisite project exploring automatic discovery and
extraction of semantic topics from large databases of scientific articles. The
ideal candidate will have a strong background in computational techniques for
large-scale text mining and topic modeling including, but not limited to, LDA-
based topic models, NLP techniques, machine learning, and cognitive
modeling. A strong programming background is expected. Working knowledge
of the neuroimaging literature, basic neuroanatomy, and cognitive
experiments is desirable, but not necessary. Candidates must have a PhD in
computing science, linguistics, psychology, or a related field.

Interested applicants are encouraged to send via email attachments an up-to-
date CV and the names of three referees who can describe the applicant's
background, interests, and research potential to Michael Jones

The Cognitive Science Program at Indiana University
(http://cogs.indiana.edu/) has a long history of pioneering work in
computational and mathematical modeling of human cognition, and has a
strong international reputation in modern computational approaches to
cognitive science.
