Description:

We are looking for a short-term, part-time research assistant (ideal 
for a masters or PhD student) to help us develop our natural 
language understanding systems in Mandarin Chinese. The work is 
remote, so you can live anywhere in the US or Canada. The position 
would start as soon as possible, for a term of around two months 
(possibly renewable).  If you're a student, this is a really great way to 
put work experience on your CV.

In this position, you will be helping with grammar developement and 
data collection.

Minimum requirements:
-  Bachelors in linguistics, computer science, or foreign language
-  Native speaker of Mandarin Chinese
-  Fluent in English
-  Comfortable with the Linux command line
-  Programming skills - at least two of the following languages: perl, 
python, groovy, ruby, java, C/C++, shell scripting
-  Must be able to commit to at least 15 hours a week
-  Must be authorized to work in the US or Canada.

Preferred requirements:
-  Masters in computational linguistics, natural language processing, 
linguistics, or computer science
-  Experience writing BNF or SRGS grammars
-  Knowledge of databases, especially lucene/solr
-  Commit to 20 hours a week or more
