Description:

The University of Konstanz belongs to the universities in Germany whose 
"Future concepts for top-class research at universities" is promoted within the 
framework of the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state 
governments.

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Konstanz invites 
applications for a  W3-Professorship in General and German Linguistics to be 
filled by April 1, 2013.

The successful candidate should be able to cover German Linguistics in its 
entire breadth. His/Her field of expertise should include at least one of the 
core areas in Linguistics (Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics or 
Pragmatics), with a secondary specialization in another area, such as 
Psycholinguistics, Historical Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics, etc.

Teaching and examination duties include all the programs in General 
Linguistics as well as the philological majors (Bachelor, Master, Lehramt) at 
all curricular levels, including PhD. Teaching and examination in the German 
section is especially important.

We are looking for candidates whose expertise is demonstrated, for example, 
by publications in established linguistic journals, important monographs, 
invited conference papers, fellowships and awards (i.e., academic 
performance at least equivalent to a German "Habilitation").

Cooperation with existing and planned research proposals at the department
