Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

Imagine that you have been working on an awesome and completely presentation-worthy topic. You have been
working hard on your research and refining your techniques, and now you want to share your findings
with other linguists. So you go to LINGUIST List and you start to search in our convenient
Calls and Conferences Index when you get a big red sign that says: "Sorry, due to lack of funding
we can no longer support our Calls and Conferences Index." What do you do then? What do you do
if you're a graduate student and don't have any networks within the linguistics community to
find out about other conferences?

You see, the thing about LINGUIST List is that we do the work for you. We provide an easy-to-use
web submission form for submitters to provide call and conference information. Then, we do the
editing and formatting as well as any updating to the submission to keep it relevant to our users.
If this resource went away, this one-stop Conference hot spot would mean a lot more steps for you
to get the information you need.

I don't want to see that big red sign and I don't think you do either. So consider donating today:

Best Regards,

Amy Brunett
Conferences Editor

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax
return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site,
or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a
simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to
LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
