Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

The first round of the Grand 2012 Limerick Contest is nearing its
end.  Voting on Round 1 of submissions will close tomorrow at 5:00 pm
(EST), so head on over to the limerick page and be sure to vote for
your favorite:

We'll be accepting entries for Round 2 until tomorrow at noon (EST).
Send us your best shot at that time-honored and deadly serious
artistic form, the limerick, and you may win a prize AND the undying
respect of your colleagues!  Remember, limericks should be somehow
related to linguistics, and appropriate for viewing by tender young
eyes (such as those of innocent undergraduates).  

On Friday, we'll announce the winner of Round 1, and unveil the
competitors for Round 2.  We're pleased to tell you that we've
received a lot of very, very good entries this week.  Get excited for
a veritable smorgasbord of puns, clever rhymes, and tongue-in-cheek
pokes at the field!
