Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-
Champaign invites applications for a three-year, full-time position as 
Lecturer in Modern Greek Studies with a target start date of 
08/16/2012. The position is renewable each year and is contingent on 
funding and strong performance reviews. Renewal of the position after 
the third year is contingent on the level of external support generated.

The position involves teaching six Modern Greek language and Greek-
related courses per year. In addition to teaching duties, the new 
Lecturer will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Modern 
Greek Studies program on campus, including student and community 
outreach. The Modern Greek Studies program at the University of 
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is one of the youngest and most dynamic 
programs on campus. We are seeking a highly competent and dynamic 
individual who will be able to actively promote Modern Greek Studies 
and successfully carry out broader liaison responsibilities pertaining to 
the advancement of Modern Greek studies at the state and national

Required are native or near-native command of Modern Greek, 
experience teaching Greek as a second language, and Ph.D. in hand 
by date of appointment. Experience with course development and 
instructional and web technology is highly desirable. Salary competitive
