Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

When we told you we hoped to reach $44,000 by Monday at 3:00, we thought we were
shooting for the moon. Weekends are often a time for rest, and it's hard to
maintain the same energy we have during the week. But here we are with $45,805!
Apparently we reached the stars on this goal.

So we want to maintain our end of the deal and introduce the star for this week's
saga story... Speculative Grammarian! (http://specgram.com/)

For those of you who have tragically never encountered the hilarious wit of
SpecGram, they are regarded as "the premier scholarly journal featuring research
in the neglected field of satirical linguistics." We know this to be true. Because
it says so on their website. Whether or not you've followed SpecGram's work in the
past, you're in for a special treat this Friday.

We want this to be a fun, exciting week for everyone. So for this week we have
prizes, we have guest authors, we have new limericks, AND we have a new lofty
goal. Can we reach $55,000 by Thursday at 3:00?

To follow the cheesy idiom theme for this letter (hey, space is cool)... hitting
such a major milestone so soon would be stellar.

Help us make this another great week, and donate to take part in the fun!

Gratefully yours,
The LINGUIST List Crew

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax
return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site,
or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a
simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to
LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
