Description:

The School of Arts and Social Sciences at Northumbria University is offering a
number of full-time PhD studentships to commence in October 2012.

The division of Linguistics and English Language in the Department of Humanities
is inviting applications from applicants who have a broad interest in cognitive
linguistics and/or discourse analysis. We particularly welcome applications from
students interested in empirical approaches (including both corpus and
experimental methods) and the study of spoken language.

Successful applicants will receive:

A full fee waiver (home and EU students only) for three years full time
A bursary of £13,590 per annum for three years (full time)
Access to funds to support research expenses (conferences or archive visits)

Please follow the application guidelines at:

http://www.northumbria.ac.uk/sassstudentshipsft2012

We are looking to recruit candidates who can demonstrate a strong performance in
their undergraduate degree (probably first class) as well as a good MA or MSc
qualification or equivalent experience. We will, however, consider candidates
straight from undergraduate degrees where there is evidence of exceptional
academic ability.

Informal enquiries regarding research topics can be addressed to Regina Weinert,

Application Deadline: 27-Apr-2012

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match

contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a
simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to
LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.
