Dear Subscribers,

Where do you go when you need to look up the linguists of the world? What about researching the linguistics
programs at various universities? What about discovering institutions of research in a certain region?

Chances are, you probably check your favorite search engine. But did you know that the LINGUIST List has all this
information available for you to browse and search in one unified place?

For decades now, the List has been collecting the submitted names and affiliations of linguists who contribute to
the List, posting their dissertations or papers, participating in discussions, and adding to the collection of
knowledge.

This has resulted in the largest and most comprehensive database of linguistic People records available on the
internet today. Our People records have more than 27,000 entries of voluntarily self-submitted biographic
information about linguists around the world- including academic affiliations; recent publications, books, papers,
or other authored materials; links to relevant book reviews; and personal academic connections.

You can browse the People listings here:
https://linguistlist.org/people/personal/index.html

Over the years we have also maintained a database of linguistic institutions and programs around the world.
Institutions of higher learning, as well as research and governmental organizations. You can look up institutions
and universities by their subfield focus and department size, learn about funding opportunities and application
deadlines. The List has thousands of records of updated information about graduate school programs, integrated
with the People records, making your search for potential faculty collaborators or advisors that much easier.

You can browse the Programs listings here:
https://linguistlist.org/teach/programs/

These resources are freely available to all, and it is our pleasure here at the LINGUIST List to employ the graduate
students who maintain and update these databases. But without your support it is impossible to continue this work.
We thank you sincerely for your contribution today.

Thank you,

Brent Woo

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax
return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site,
or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a
simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to
LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.
