Abstract:
Diese gotische grammatik soll in erster linie dem akademischen unterrichte
dienen, als grundlage für Vorlesungen und gotische Übungen; sie soll aber
auch dem studierenden ein ausreichendes hülfsmittel bieten zur praktischen
erlernung der gotischen sprache und ihn dadurch befähigen, den Vorlesungen
über historische und -vergleichende grammatik mit grösserem nutzen zu
folgen. Zu diesem zwecke ist die gotische laut- und flexionslehre möglichst
aus sich selbst zur darstellung gebracht, ohne die vergleichende grammatik
zur erklärung der tatsachen heranzuziehen. Eher ist zuweilen auf einen
anderen germanischen dialekt, wie das althochdeutsche, bezug genommen.
Die lesestücke sollen für gotische Übungen ausreichendes material liefern;
dem auf eigene hand sich einarbeitenden geben sie gelegenheit, das in der
grammatik gelernte anzuwenden.
