Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We're almost at the end of the LINGUIST fund-raiser for the year.
You have received letters setting out what LINGUIST does for all
of us in this multi-faceted international community of students
of language, as well as reminders that it cannot serve the
discipline without your support. You don't want to see yet
another reminder or another plea, but, alas, we still have not
yet reached our goal.

SO - here is the grand finale to the fund drive: The LINGUIST
Advisors are challenging you to match and to double our
collective contribution of $4,000. Yes, another $12,000
will bring us to the point where LINGUIST can carry on in
the fine style to which we have all become accustomed.
Since the Advisors have raised $4,000, a mere $8,000 will
end the drive and bring some security to this invaluable
service for another year. If everyone reading this message
gave $1.00 (or 0,75€, or £0,62 or…YOUR CURRENCY HERE) we
would vastly surpass our goal.

If you haven't pledged yet, please do. We would hate to see
our challenge fail and hate even more to see LINGUIST, which
serves us so well, struggle to make ends meet - we would all
be the poorer for this!!

With many thanks for your generosity from us
and the entire Advisor group,

Maggie Winters and Geoff Nathan

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax
return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site,
or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a
simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to
LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
