Description:

The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures, at the 
University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, invites applications for a 
Visiting Lecturer/Instructor for 2012-2013, with a target start date of 
August 16, 2012.
 
This is a non-renewable, 9 month full-time, non-tenure track position 
with an additional 1 month summer salary.
 
The position involves coordination of the Basic Language Program in 
German and supervision of teaching assistants. Conducting pre-
semester teaching orientation. 2/2 teaching load which may include a 
teaching methods course for graduate students, courses in the basic 
language program and in the undergraduate curriculum. Some service 
in the department is expected.
 
Required:
-  Ph.D. or MA in Applied Linguistics or German (specialization open 
but applied linguistics or linguistics preferred)
-  Experience in training and supervising teaching assistants
-  Expertise in the application of technologies in language instruction, 
for example, web-based delivery and experience with course 
management systems
-  Minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching German in a North 
American context
-  Evidence of teaching excellence
-  Native or near-native ability in German and English
 
Title will depend on level of education; Lecturer must have a PhD, 
Instructor must have an MA. Salary is competitive and commensurate 
with experience.
