Linguistic Field(s): Sociolinguistics

Meeting Description:

This one-day colloquium is devoted to the study of contexts in which demands for language rights are made. The morning panel is focused on historical determinants, while the afternoon panel deals with contemporary cases. A wide range of cases will be discussed: the language claims of Alsatians, Puerto Ricans, Turks and French unionized workers are just several examples.

Conclusions will serve as a basis for the organization of an international conference. Please note that all but one paper will be delivered in French.
