Meeting Description:

The 34th All India Conference of Linguists (34AICL) is being organized by the Linguistic Society of India in collaboration with the Department of Linguistics, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. The conference will be held in NEHU, Shillong during November 1-3, 2012.  

The theme of this year's conference is: Linguistic Diversity in India: Typologies, Cultures and Contacts.

Keynote Speaker:

Plenary Speakers:

There will be 2-3 plenary speakers whose names will be announced in the second circular.

Special Sessions:

There will be two special sessions in the 34th AICL:

1. Typology of North-East Indian Languages
2. Language Contact in North-East India

The participants are requested to make their own travel arrangements and arrange for funding from their respective organisations.

Visas:

All non-Indian citizens who are attending the Conference need a visa to enter India. Please contact the Indian Consulate nearest to you for visa procedures. When your abstract is accepted, you will be issued an official letter inviting you to the Conference, which you can submit with your visa application.

Further information on lodging and travel will be made available in our second announcement.

Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts should be submitted in English and should be sent preferably by email to 34aicl at gmail.com in both PDF and DOC/DOCX formats latest by June 30, 2012. 

Authors may submit no more than one individual and one joint (co-authored) proposal. The abstracts should be anonymous, and fit on at most 2 pages including examples, tables/figures and references (using 12-point Times New Roman with reasonable margins). 

Please write the (corresponding) author's name plus the word 'abstract' in the subject line of your message (e.g., 'Gupta abstract'), and include author name(s), affiliation, contact information and the title of the abstract in the body of the email. For co-authored papers indicate the email address that we should use for correspondence. All paper presenters have to be LSI members by the time they register for the conference.

Important Dates:

Abstract submission deadline: June 30, 2012
Notification of acceptance: July 15, 2012
Pre-Proceedings paper submission deadline: September 15, 2012
Conference: November 1-3, 2012
