Meeting Description: 

Since 2007, the Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism and Language Learning (Leeuwarden, the Netherlands) and the Basque Government ( Basque Country)have an agreement to organise a European Expert Seminar every year. 

The central focus of the fifth seminar, which will be held in November 2012, will be: 'Social media and its impact for lesser used languages'. 

Another part of the agreement is a research project on multilingualism and multilingual education, a comparative study of the Basque Autonomous Community and the province of Fryslân. This multi-annual research project is carried out by the Mercator Research Centre in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country.
